Spotlight on the Essentials
Gift Giving reading & Writing Grab & Go's
1. Click here to grab a 2023 calendar template. There are different options to choose from. Your students can add their unique handwriting, special messages, and drawings. I would love to receive this kind of gift from my children. What a treasure.
2. Sending snail mail is a wonderful way to spread Holiday cheer (and of course one of the best purposes for writing). Click here for card making inspiration.
3. Have your students create an ABC book about Christmas/Their Holiday of Choice/Winter. They can make it by hand or digitally. Have them add pictures and voila, they're an author! Here is an example my daughter made years ago that I just stumbled upon.
4. Have a book exchange! Have you ever heard of the Icelandic tradition, Jolabokaflod, it translates roughly to "Christmas book flood." I always loved doing this with my students every year. Here is a letter to families that explains it all.
